It’s grungy, it’s punky, it’s pop, it’s chic—what could it be? The hottest thing to have on your feet this fall: the biker boot. Brought into the spotlight with MiuMiu’s F/W ’22 collection, their pair has been deemed the it-item of fall, and fashion people are following suit. Now that fall fashion is officially being ushered in, the chunky, statement-making shoes are about to be inescapable.

Made of leather or suede with thick soles, a shaft that hits mid-calf, and a hefty amount of hardware, they give an uber-cool edge to a look (much like a leather moto jacket would). Their versatility works for year-round wear, and their durability means they’ll be able to handle whatever winter weather throws at us this year.

When thinking of biker boots, we’re taken back to the early aughts where moto boots were paired with skin-tight skinny jeans, and chunky sunglasses. (If you’re picturing Alexa Chung outside of a New York Fashion Week show with a cigarette in hand, you’ve got the right idea.) And while we’re mainly seeing them be styled with sleek black dresses, mini skirts, and leather jackets, they’re also the perfect shoe to try out the wrong-shoe theory with. Juxtaposing their toughness with the femininity of a flowing white dress or lacy details is an unexpected combo that’ll earn you props from even your most fashion-forward friends. I’m personally planning on wearing mine with a slip dress and blazer on repeat.
